Washington University cardiac surgeons provide treatment for coronary artery disease, acquired and congenital diseases of the heart and vessels, complications of myocardial infarction, valvular heart disease, diseases of the aorta - dissection and aneurysm, cardiac arrhythmia, end-stage heart disease, congestive heart failure and chronic pulmonary embolism.

Services include:

  • Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), on and off-pump (or beating heart surgery), including minimally invasive or keyhole surgical techniques, transmyocardial laser revascularization (TMR) or TMLR) laser treatment for angina and endoscopic coronary artery bypass surgery (robotic surgery)
  • Aortic valve repair and replacement (valvuloplasty), including minimally invasive approaches
  • Mitral valve repair and mitral valve replacement (valvuloplasty), including minimally invasive methods
  • Aortic aneurysm, including stent grafting
  • Ventricular assist device implantas a bridge to transplant or a stand-alone device
  • Pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE)
