Washington University Orthopedics physiatrists, also known as physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) physicians, specialize in physical medicine and rehabilitation and provide evaluation and conservative treatment of a wide array of problems affecting the musculoskeletal system.

Our PM&R physicians are highly skilled in occupational medicine, sports medicine, spine medicine and general orthopedic conditions. We also advise patients on conservative methods to relieve pain from conditions such as pulled muscles, sprains and inflammation. The team has special expertise in performing arts medicine and rehabilitation as well as in women’s musculoskeletal health. Physiatrists uniquely recognize the importance of maintaining function and have the expertise to help patients resolve their problems and prevent recurrence.
