Research Interests

Dr. Payton's translational research focuses on the discovery of novel genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of carcinogenesis, particularly those that deregulate gene expression networks, using integrative, multi-platformhigh complexity experimental and bioinformatic approaches. In addition, innovative approaches to selectively target cancer-associated aberrant epigenetic landscapes in order to reverse pathogenic gene expression profiles and regulatory networks is in development.
