Notes

Activity-dependent plasticity in brain networks has been the unifying theme of my neuroscience training, research and clinical work. My background has provided me the opportunity to consider brain network reorganization in various clinical populations.As the PI on an NIH-funded career development grant, I used resting state functional connectivity magnetic resonance imaging (fcMRI) to study the relationship between the organization of distributed brain networks and behavior in stroke patients. In my own research, I use behavioral interventions (musical training, visuomotor adaptation, arm immobilization), non-invasive brain stimulation with transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and acquired brain injury as tools to perturb brain networks and study their reorganization with resting state fMRId.
