Thanks for visiting our Web page. We'd like to explain how patient financial services are managed.
Washington University Physicians Billing Service (PBS) handles all the billing for any service provided by a Washington University physicians practice. It is the patients responsibility to pay for a service, whether by private or public insurance or self pay. PBS coordinates the billing to the insurance claim offices and provides followup services
All patients of Washington University Physicians are eligible for our assistance in collecting payment from their insurance companies, managed care organizations and HMOs for their medical charges.

What we do for you
Physicians Billing Service collects medical charges from the physicians who have treated you and submit them to your insurance carrier. We work with you to ensure that insurance billing is processed correctly. We collect your portion or self-payment and apply it against your balance. We try to present all your bills on one statement, whenever possible.
In addition to insurance claim submission to the patient's insurance carrier and follow-up and collection by our experienced staff, we also provide a 24-hour automated inquiry system for making credit card payments and checking your account.
Our Patient Service Representatives are ready to assist you and answer questions you may have in regards to your account.
What we don't do
Physicians Billing Services does not process, submit or collect for hospital charges. This is because the physicians are from Washington University and work in a number of different hospital or outpatient settings. You will receive a separate bill or statement from whatever hospital facility or service you used -- for example, from Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Missouri Baptist, Children's Hospital or from other facilities. However, our staff will be happy to help direct any patient with billing and collection questions to the most appropriate source.
We do not gather medical information about you, obtain referrals from your primary doctor or collect related documentation for patient visits. These are handled through the physician offices when you are scheduled to consult a Washington University physician.
When are we available
Our office hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday (except holidays).
