About Our Clinical Practice

All of our practicing faculty members are licensed in Missouri; some are licensed in Illinois as well. These clinicians provide comprehensive physical therapy services to adults and adolescents with muscle imbalance, movement dysfunction, and/or pain related to musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, or cardiopulmonary diseases, conditions, or injuries.

Typically, patients seek care in our clinic for:

  • Movement impairments and/or posture problems related to pain and disease, acute and chronic conditions or injuries of the neck, back, shoulder, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle, or foot.
  • Recurring headaches
  • Facial pain and weakness
  • Diabetic foot problems
  • Sports injuries
  • Incontinence and pelvic pain
  • Lymphedema treatment and management
  • Management of overweight and obesity
  • Health, fitness and wellness
Our commitment to ongoing, sound, collegial relationships with each patient's physician or other health care provider facilitates optimal health care for these patients.

Patients are usually referred by their personal physician, specialty physicians (i.e., orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, etc.) or they may initiate contact with us themselves.

Physical therapy care in our clinical practice is covered by most health insurance carriers (although most insurance carriers require a written referral or prescription signed by the patient's physician).

What Our Patients Say About Us

The following statements are taken from the monthly patient feedback/patient satisfaction surveys:

Your entire staff gives excellent care and respect for myself and any other persons I have seen there. If the star rating only goes to 5, I would give them a 10! Excellent!

My therapist has been a caring and helpful PT. She is patient, listens to my concerns, takes extensive notes and is available and flexible in her schedule. She is indeed an asset to the Washington University PT department. Thanks for assisting me in my therapy.

Everyone I encountered was very helpful. The therapist explained the exercises to me and answered questions I had. I felt she was very thorough.

The Washington University Advantage

The Program in Physical Therapy at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis is one of the most highly respected in the United States, ranking in the top two during the past 9 consecutive years in US News and World Report's determination of best graduate schools in physical therapy.

In part this reflects the leading edge theory and practice of our physical therapy faculty as well as their involvement in ongoing research to advance movement science.

Our clinical practice is diagnosis based, a relatively new concept to the practice of physical therapy. Several members of our faculty have been instrumental in developing a diagnostic process, as well as, specific movement related diagnoses for physical therapy.

These diagnoses provide the critical foundation that enables identification of the specific cause of each patient's primary complaint. As a result the most specific, effective, and cost-efficient intervention can be implemented.

This approach to patient management has allowed us to restore optimal physical and functional abilities, improve mobility, relieve pain, and promote health, fitness and wellness in even the most challenging and complex patient problems - problems resulting from diseases, disorders, conditions, or injuries that in many instances have previously been treated unsuccessfully.
